Travel Documents
🇪🇺 EU/EEA/Swiss Citizens
- Valid national ID card or passport
- No visa required for Denmark
- No border controls (Schengen area)
🇬🇧 UK Citizens (Post-Brexit)
- Valid passport required
- No visa for stays up to 90 days
- Passport validity: 3+ months beyond stay
🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇦🇺 USA, Canada, Australia & Others
- Valid passport required
- Check Schengen visa requirements for your nationality
- Most can stay visa-free for 90 days in 180-day period
Important
Always carry your travel documents. While border controls are rare in the Schengen area, random checks can occur. Keep your passport/ID easily accessible.
Driving Documents
- Driver's License: Valid driving license from your home country. EU licenses are valid throughout Europe. Non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their national license.
- Vehicle Registration: Original vehicle registration document (V5C for UK, Fahrzeugschein for Germany, etc.)
- Insurance: Valid vehicle insurance. Green Card is no longer required for EU travel but recommended. Ensure your policy covers travel to Denmark.
- Rental Cars: If driving a rental, carry the rental agreement and authorization letter for international travel.
Traveling with Pets
Pets are welcome on the ferry! Here's what you need:
- EU Pet Passport with microchip number and owner details
- Rabies vaccination – must be at least 21 days old
- Veterinary health certificate (for non-EU pets, issued within 10 days of travel)
On the Ferry:
- Stay in vehicle: Pets can remain in your car (free)
- Pet Lounge: Dedicated pet area available (~€15)
- Outdoor deck: Walking area for dogs on the sun deck
Tip: The 45-minute crossing is short enough that most pets can comfortably stay in the vehicle with proper ventilation.
